Internship Application for AAEC, ENVM, or HFIM

For-credit internship experiences provide students with progressively challenging work activities and significant learning opportunities related to their major. The organization should provide solid orientation, training, supervision, and feedback throughout the experience. In order to be approved for an internship, several pieces of information are needed before gaining permission to register. This includes this application, approval from the faculty advisor, and a signed MOU with the university and internship site if off-campus or if an MOU does not already exist. Please see the UGA Course Bulletin for prerequisite information for your major's internship requirements.
Deadline: April 15, 2024

Broder-Ackermann Global Citizen Award

The Broder-Ackermann Global Citizen Award ($1,000) recognizes an undergraduate student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences who has embraced global citizenship in their own community or globally through participation, promotion and/or leadership of international initiatives. Global citizenship does not necessarily mean that you have traveled extensively, but rather that you take an active interest and involvement in cultures different from your own.

Congressional Agricultural Fellowship

The UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and several Georgia Congressional offices offer summer fellowship opportunities for students. Students serve as agricultural liaisons while in Washington, D.C. and will have the opportunity to attend agriculture committee hearings, prepare briefs, conduct research, meet with constituents, and more. Fellows receive a $3,000 housing stipend to live in Delta Hall for the 12-week fellowship and are paid hourly by their congressional offices.

Edward T. and Karen Kanemasu Global Engagement Award

The Edward T. and Karen Kanemasu Global Engagement Award honors their lifelong commitment to building human connections across global cultures while working to feed a rapidly growing population. This award recognizes students who go above and beyond by globalizing their academic program at the University of Georgia.

Designed to support a full immersion experience, this award will go to a student taking on more than the typical study abroad program. Recipients must spend a minimum of 2 months completing an internship or conducting research in a non-English speaking country. Upon their return, awardees are expected to participate in related events that encourage other students to pursue opportunities in global engagement

First preference will be given to students enrolled in the undergraduate or graduate International Agriculture Certificate Program.

Food Animal Veterinary Incentive Program

The Food Animal VIP (FAVIP) is a joint effort between the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The goal of the FAVIP is to recruit and train future veterinarians in food animal medicine for under-served communities, central to the future of safe and successful food animal production. Successful completion of this program will result in admission into the University of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine, subject to review and approval by the College of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Committee. Selection of students into the FAVIP will be made by the CAES in cooperation with the Admissions committee of the CVM. Students must demonstrate a keen interest in and commitment to food animal agriculture/veterinary medicine. FAVIP students must major in and make satisfactory progress in one of the following CAES majors: Animal Health, Animal Science, Avian Biology, Dairy Science or Poultry Science. Students accepted into the FAVIP are required to complete all courses required for their major and all prerequisites courses for the DVM program at the University of Georgia with a minimum of 30 semester credits each year.

Georgia Legislative Internships

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences sponsors legislative internships during the 12-week legislative session in Atlanta. Two students will be selected to work with either the Georgia Agribusiness Council or the Chairman of the Georgia Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee. Students will receive a stipend of $1,500 per month, for three months. Students will attend committee meetings, write briefs, conduct research, and assist in legislative efforts as assigned. This is an excellent opportunity for students to become involved in state legislative and policy activities that have a direct impact on Georgia's farmers.
